After teaching three workshops and many River Stone Studio classes this spring, I’m feeling heaps of gratitude for Jasper’s dedicated and inspiring little yoga community. I’m learning so much from all of you and I’m humbled by your appreciation. The truth is that you find the most rewarding new adventures when your life turns upside down (both literally and figuratively since my students all know how much I enjoy inversions). - Alisen
Everyday life lived outdoors in the cobblestone streets of Trinidad, Cuba just before sunset, January 29, 2014. I spent my last night in Cuba with my first friend there, Berta, and two German women playing dominos and drinking mojitos. If you’re headed to Varadero you have to stay at Casa Berta y Alfredo. Sunset in magical Trinidad, Cuba this past January. Such sweet light and the bustle of life at the magic hour in this beautiful city made for an overwhelming array of photo opportunities. In my Yoga for Creatives class a couple weeks ago, we talked about self imposed restrictions and working from a specific foundation to focus your creativity - works for art and asana. I hung out on this specific block for 30 minutes two evenings in a row in an attempt to do just that - to focus in on one goal amongst an endless sea of inspiration.
Daydreaming of blissful SUP yoga afternoons on Lake Edith. Taking my paddle board instructors course in three weeks with Steph Sophocleous and we’re pumped to start offering some classes this summer 2014 in Jasper, AB. "May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself." - Neil Gaiman - http://neil-gaiman.tumblr.com
For me, part of the joy I find in photographing weddings is playing at being many types of photographer in one day: photojournalist, contemporary & art, lifestyle, portraiture, still life and, my favorite lately…foodie. Creations by Tekarra Restaurant in Jasper, Alberta, Canada.
